News at The Old Homestead: 

Entering the 21st Century:

• We now have excellent reception on cell phone, especially Verizon

• And we have DSL computer hookups.  Jury is still out on wire-less as I need to be better convinced that living with those frequencies is not ultimately harmful, but you can access wireless at the Barnet Library – open Saturdays! (or sit on the porch)

• Would you like a massage or an acupuncture session.  It may be able to be arranged with experts right here in Barnet!   Let me arrange when you make you reservation.

• Golf at the award winning St. Johnsbury Country Club. (20 minutes away)

• Ice cream – a summer must! – get a free cone at Cindy’s with every room reservation.

• Farmers Markets – Saturdays in St. Johnsbury all summer long! Fresh produce, bakery goodies, maple products, crafts etc. Also Music, crafts and demonstrations!  A piece of rural Vermont!

• Every Monday evening – 8 o’clock -- St. Johnsbury Town Band   Founded 1830, one of the oldest town band in continuous existence! Bring your lawn chair (or borrow mine) -- ‘Sit-ins Welcome’!

Look ahead to Fall Foliage:

Annual Festival is September 30th through October 7th – still have vacancies during the week
Thursday the 4th will be Peacham’s Day, Friday the 5th the fun is in Barnet,
Saturday the 6th in Groton, and Sunday the 7th in St. Johnsbury.

• The Artists Guild -- the best of Vermont’s artisans – Downtown St. Johnsbury, the building with the purple awning! Glass, pottery, ceramics, weaving, prints, painting, jewelry, rug hooking, etc. etc. etc., gallery and store – worth your trip for the gallery alone!
